Rooted in Values. Driven by Purpose.

Social work is a values-driven commitment to humanity—grounded in our core values: service, dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, social justice, integrity, and competence. At the heart of our mission is human-centered research—rigorous, compassionate inquiry that reflects the lived experiences of marginalized communities. It is a reflection of our commitment to co-create solutions that see people fully. Donating to CSSW is an investment in a future shaped by these values and led by those bold enough to live them out.

Leaders in Social Work Education and Research Since 1898

Dignity and Worth of the Person

At the heart of social work lies a simple yet powerful belief: every person matters. At CSSW, our students strengthen their commitment to honoring the inherent worth and dignity of every individual—regardless of background, circumstance, or status.

Our students are trained to embrace cultural and individual differences—to listen deeply, and to walk alongside those they support with empathy, humility, and care. Through hands-on practicum training, transformative research, and ethical leadership, our students leave equipped to support individuals and communities to heal and thrive.

Importance of Human Relationships

The importance of human relationships is the foundation on which all our values rest. Human connection is the lifeblood of change—it is how we build trust, foster resilience, and spark hope.

We ask questions like: How do we stay connected through disagreement? How do we show up with empathy? How do we begin again, even when harmed? We teach that tending to relationships, especially when strained, is a radical act of care. It is how we mend what has been fractured and nurture the community we are building together.

A Lifelong Commitment to Serve

Our students step into the lives of others with compassion, courage, and humility. We train them to use their knowledge and values to support those too often pushed to the margins.

Whether through counseling a family in crisis, organizing a community, or challenging unjust systems through advocacy and policy work, our students embody the heart of service. For our community, service is not just a task; it is a promise. A promise to meet people where they are. To listen. To act. To keep showing up, again and again.
