Mark your calendar for Columbia Giving Day 2025
Each October, members of the University-wide community come together for 24 hours of impact—supporting the areas of Columbia of meaning to them and lending critical support for students, faculty, and researchers.
Last year, donors made an incredible 13,870 gifts! Let’s build on this impact, together, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
How do I decide where to give?
No matter what you’re interested in, there is a way for you to make a difference on Giving Day. You may consider supporting financial aid and scholarships at the Columbia school you attended; giving to an area that made your holistic Columbia experience particularly meaningful, such as Columbia Athletics or Columbia University Libraries; or supporting a research area you’re passionate about, like climate response, precision medicine, or neuroscience.
Will 100 percent of my gift go to my designated area?
Yes.
How can my gift make a difference?
Columbia schools and programs rely on immediate-use gifts like those made on Giving Day, as they can be spent right away on their most pressing priorities. Endowment funding and tuition do not cover the entire cost of a Columbia education, and endowment funds—while absolutely critical to the mission of the University—can only be spent based on the original donors’ intent and are often limited to specific areas. Your support on Giving Day comes early in the academic year, and allows schools and programs to respond nimbly to opportunities and needs as they arise.
Can I give through a stock, donor-advised fund (DAF), IRA distribution, or wire transfer?
Yes. Check out the Ways to Give page for more information.
